LOCKEDIN / FORWARD-DEPLOYED ENGINEERING 101
Understand it.
Then build it.
You can be an experienced engineer and still be new to agents. Start with what each thing is and how it helps a person do useful work. Explore 48 original introductions across software, agents, cloud, security and delivery. Start here without a model key; each topic connects to deeper instruction and practice.

Accountability and evidence
What are AI governance and compliance?
AI governance assigns ownership, policies and review responsibilities across an AI system's lifecycle. Compliance means meeting applicable obligations in a specific context. A governance framework can organize the work, but adopting its vocabulary does not by itself establish compliance or certification.
FDEs translate policy into runtime restrictions, release criteria and operating records that another team can inspect.
CONNECT IT TO WHAT YOU KNOW
Start with something familiar.
It resembles engineering change control: someone owns the risk decision, evidence supports the decision, and material changes trigger another review.
Controls must be implemented and evidenced for the actual data, use case and jurisdiction. Legal and compliance owners determine applicable obligations; this lesson teaches the engineering evidence they need.
Words worth knowing
- Risk owner
- The accountable person responsible for a risk decision.
- Control
- A measure intended to prevent, detect or respond to a failure.
- Audit evidence
- Records showing what was implemented, checked and decided.
ONE EXAMPLE / FICTIONAL CASE
Watch the work take shape.
A maintenance assistant is approved for drafting administrative tickets, but a proposed change would let it issue operational instructions.
- 01Map the use
- 02Measure and review
- 03Manage change
Map the use
Document the intended users, data, decisions, affected people and accountable owner.
A scoped system recordFROM RECOGNITION TO REASONING
Draft a one-page AI system record.
- 01
State intended and excluded uses.
- 02
Name the decision owner and necessary evidence.
- 03
Define a change that must trigger renewed review.
A scope, controls and change-review record.
Compare your reasoning when you are ready
Expanding from drafting to operational action changes the consequences and required controls. A previous approval for the narrower use cannot silently cover the new one.
Keep notes in your own working copy. Moving through these cards does not record completion.
