LOCKEDIN / FORWARD-DEPLOYED ENGINEERING 101
Understand it.
Then build it.
You can be an experienced engineer and still be new to agents. Start with what each thing is and how it helps a person do useful work. Explore 48 original introductions across software, agents, cloud, security and delivery. Start here without a model key; each topic connects to deeper instruction and practice.

NVIDIA's family of open AI models
What is Nemotron?
Nemotron is a family of AI models from NVIDIA. A model contains learned parameters that generate or interpret information. Choose an exact model and revision for your task, then evaluate it; the family name alone does not identify size, modalities, license or deployment requirements.
A client needs a model selected on task quality, data constraints, cost and operability, not merely brand familiarity.
CONNECT IT TO WHAT YOU KNOW
Start with something familiar.
Think of choosing a database engine and a specific version, rather than saying only 'we use a database.' Model families contain different artifacts with different strengths and operational requirements.
Nemotron is not NeMo, CUDA or a GPU. Open model availability does not remove the need to check the particular model card, license, dependency terms and permitted deployment conditions.
Words worth knowing
- Weights
- The learned numerical parameters of a model.
- Model card
- The publisher's description of a specific model, intended uses, evaluation and limitations.
- MoE
- Mixture of experts: an architecture that activates selected components. Total stored parameters and active compute are different quantities.
ONE EXAMPLE / FICTIONAL CASE
Watch the work take shape.
Select a Nemotron candidate for the maintenance assistant. Record its exact identifier and compare it with the current baseline on ordinary requests, missing evidence and forbidden-data requests.
MODELS / DEVELOPMENT- 01Exact model + revision
- 02Your evaluation set
- 03Accept / revise / reject
Read the model card
Identify input/output modalities, context limits, license, artifacts and supported runtime requirements.
A specific candidate recordFROM RECOGNITION TO REASONING
Draft a model-selection record.
- 01
Choose a current model card through the official model directory.
- 02
Record identifier, revision, license, context and runtime assumptions.
- 03
Write three acceptance cases and one reason to reject the candidate.
A model record plus an evaluation plan, without invented results.
Compare your reasoning when you are ready
A larger model or longer advertised context is not automatically better for the client. Representative task quality and resource measurements must support the choice.
Keep notes in your own working copy. Moving through these cards does not record completion.
TURN THE IDEA INTO USEFUL WORK
You can now go deeper.
Name the exact Nemotron artifact, then show why it fits the task.
